Project Fear proved WRONG: New study shows 105 countries that WANT better trade with UK

A NEW study has revealed that Britain’s Brexit boom has astounded the doom and gloom expectations of Remainers who claimed nobody would want to trade with the UK outside the EU.

During the historic referendum campaign, the government backed Britain Stronger in Europe (BSE) campaign, specifically said that 111 countries or trading blocs would definitely not want to do deals with Britain if it voted to Leave. But the pro-Brexit organisation Change Britain has revealed that so far 105 – 95 per cent of the total – have already said they want to have a free trade deal or deepen trading relations even before Britain officially leaves the EU.

It comes as one of the architects of Project Fear, former Treasury advisor James Chapman, who was George Osborne’s righthand man, has called on Remainer politicians from different political groups to form a new party to block Brexit and cut off the UK’s optimistic future.

It also follows a call by the new Australian High Commissioner Alexander Downer for Britain to cheer up about Brexit and be “optimistic” about its future outside the stifling confines of Brussels rule.Australia was the first to ask for a free trade deal after the Brexit vote but was surprisingly listed during the referendum as a country which would turn its back on Britain outside the EU.

US President Donald Trump has promised a deep trade deal with the UK while he has ditched talks with the failing EU bloc. This is despite his predecessor Barack Obama being persuaded by the then Prime Minister David Cameron to say Brexit Britain would be “at the back of the queue”.

Japan has continued to pour billions of pounds of investment into Britain including the new Nissan cars to be built in Sunderland and has discussed a trade deal even though it was listed as being uninterested in a Brexit Britain.

In addition to the 105 countries which had been listed by BSE as not wanting to deal with Brexit Britain at least another have engaged in trade talks. The now discredited Project Fear campaign is even being undone in the EU where French President Emmanuel Macron is leading a push to make sure there is a trade deal with the UK.

The EU’s risks losing out on a trading relationship with Britain worth £60 billion to the bloc in profit from imports and exports.

Change Britain supporter and former Trade Minister Lord Digby Jones said: “This report demonstrates that the pro EU Project Fear campaign was nonsense.“The UK has the world’s fifth largest economy, the world’s leading financial centre and many of its best companies, innovators and universities.

“The rest of the world is queuing up to do trade deals with us.”

The study comes as it has been revealed that Britain is close to unveiling details of proposals for a free trade and customs deal after Brexit.

The proposal will be one of a series of position papers put forward by the Government as negotiations continue with the EU.
