Brexit shock: Theresa May gets backing to DOUBLE divorce bill to break trade deadlock

BRITAIN is set to double the proposed divorce bill offer to the European Union (EU) in order to break the Brexit deadlock and open trade talks.

Prime Minister Theresa May and senior Cabinet members including key Brexiteers Michael Gove and Boris Johnson held top-level discussions on Britain’s Brexit plans earlier tonight. The Cabinet’s most powerful Brexit supporters dropped their long-standing opposition to a promise of more money to the EU, agreeing for the first time that Britain should increase its divorce bill offer above £20 billion if the EU is prepared to make concessions in return.

The original proposed figure of £18 billion failed to pave the way for Brexit Secretary David Davis to break the deadlock which has so far prevented trade talks from starting.

However, ministers made it clear that no specific monetary offer should be made at this stage, with any extra cash to Brussels being dependent on the EU giving Britain a good deal.

‘Britons will go BANANAS’ UK set to DOUBLE divorce bill payment to break deadlock

The two-hour gathering of the key Cabinet Exit and Trade (Strategy and Negotiations) sub-committee followed suggestions Britain was preparing to double its divorce bill offer to £38 billion in order to get the EU to agree to open trade talks in December.A Downing Street source said: “It remains our position that nothing’s agreed until everything’s agreed in negotiations with the EU.

“As the Prime Minister said this morning, the UK and the EU should step forward together.”

But Number 10 has dismissed speculation reports claiming Mrs May could be prepared to offer a further £20 billion in payments.

The speculative figure of £38 billion is still short of the €60 billion (£53 billion) sought by Brussels. The Government faced an immediate lashing from Leave-supporting Conservative MPs, who insisted the £20 billion already offered was enough.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Westminster Hour, former minister Robert Halfon said people would not accept a “huge” sum not being spent on schools and hospitals.

The Tory MP said that with austerity on the agenda ahead of Wednesday’s Budget, “if we start saying that we’re going to give £40 to £50 billion to the EU, I think the public will go banana, absolutely spare.”

The PM said the Government position had been made “very clear” in her speech in Florence in September, adding no other member of the European Union would have to pick up the UK’s tab for the current budget cycle.

Mrs May said: “I set out in my Florence speech that we will honour our commitments.

“I was very clear about that, as I said – for the current budget plan – no other European Union country needs fear that they will have to receive less or pay in more.

“We’ve been very clear that we will honour our commitments.”

Old money bags, it is easy to give away what is not yours.
May is about to take part in the worlds biggest fraud.
All cabinet members will be traitors and criminals if she gives away this money.

Proof, as if we ever needed it, that these politicians have broken the oath of office that they ALL have to take on becoming MP’s and are demonstrating they are NOT working for the people who pay their wages or for the country. They have been told that there is no legal obligation to pay this money and yet they ignore this and throw taxpayers money into the EU black hole. What is more outrageous I have read somewhere is this money will have to be borrowed, plunging the taxpayers into even more debt.

I place my head in hands, in despair. How on EARTH do we actually STOP these idiots from throwing away our money? They don’t listen or think; they just don’t care. It’s money for everyone, Brussels, immigrants, everyone…..except us and the needs of our own true British people.
