Britain must quit EU before ‘cataclysmic implosion’ warns top businessman

THE European Union is heading for a “cataclysmic” implosion and Britain must get out to avoid the grim repercussions, a leading entrepreneur told Tory activists yesterday.

Investment guru Jim Mellon also predicted David Cameron’s negotiation for better EU membership terms would be no more effective than PM Neville Chamberlain’s 1938 non-aggression pact with Hitler.

Multimillionaire Mr Mellon, an “ambassador” for the Leave.EU campaign, told a fringe meeting in Manchester staged by the anti-Brussels Bruges Group that he could back staying in the EU if Mr Cameron got a genuinely better deal.

“But I don’t think that’s going to happen…I do not believe that David Cameron will come back with anything other than a Munich bit of paper.”

“I believe that as a result there is going to be a cataclysmic implosion of the eurozone at some time in the next five, 10 or 15 years.

“We don’t want to be in the EU when that happens,” he said.
