‘No backsliding on Brexit’ Theresa May REJECTS House of Lords threat to BLOCK EU exit

DOWNING Street has dismissed the threat by the House of Lords peers to stop Britain leaving the European Union.

Pro-remain peer Baroness Wheatcroft called on fellow peers to stop any legislation triggering Article 50, which will formally begin the process of leaving Brussels.The former editor in chief of the Wall Street Journal Europe said: “If it comes to a Bill, I think the Lords might actually delay things. I think there’s a majority in the Lords for remaining.”

But Number 10 moved quickly to disperse any Brexit threat, stating the Lords should get behind the decision made by the British people.Theresa May’s official spokeswoman said: “The Prime Minister is very clear that Brexit means Brexit.

Lady Wheatcroft is not the only member of the unelected chamber to come out in favour of thwarting BrexitOne fellow Tory peer told the Times: “The first step is to establish the public were’t given the correct information, show they were led to believe things that weren’t true.“Leave won on only 51.9 per cent of the vote, on facts presented that are patently wrong or misleading… It’s absolutely astonishing that everyone is rolling over and saying, ‘well that’s all done and dusted’.
“There are Tory ministers who are really unhappy about it.”

The whole idea that the referendum was so close that we should have another is almost funny. My wife and me were on a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament we were unaware that it was the same day as 30,000 disgruntled remainers were there. I never saw many above 25 years of age ,Childish banners ‘We are f*****g angry.It was laughable ..or would have been if it wasn’t for the fact that they were deadly serious. Its called democracy and it was nearly a 1.5 million people Majority of people who voted to leave the Corrupt and imploding EU. Are you seriously telling me you want to prop up that failed experiment. Why? Empires have collapsed before and the EU will be no different. The remain camp was the MINORITY in the referendum no mater how you cut it. We have MAJORITY rule in a democracy. I might be wrong but does May not have the option of invoking the Parliament Act 1911 which allows the Commons to override the Lords……?
