Forget hard Brexit, it’s DIRTY Brexit as EU vows to make UK divorce as nasty as possible

It is time to just walk away.

Britain has weathered worse situations since following two World Wars that we did not initiate but were the first to stand up and be counted.  We can, and will be prosperous if we just walk away from the petty minded attitude of European politicians that hundreds of thousands of British and Commonwealth soldiers died to defend their right to such petulance.  It makes it particularly nauseating that a Polish politician should be leading in the posturing to leave Britain in a predicament because we wish to leave a thoroughly undemocratic construct such as the EU.   When Britain declared war on Germany after it invaded Poland,  many brave Poles came to Britain to fight and were among the fiercest fighters against German aggression.  It must be to their eternal shame that a failed Polish Prime Minister is one of the prime movers to put Britain down.

EU officials have been instructed to prepare for a “dirty Brexit” as hostilities between the bloc of 27 and Theresa May’s government worsen.

Brussels bureaucrats were angered by the Prime Minister’s Conservative Party conference speech in which she promised to bring in immigration checks for EU workers and signalled the UK would opt for a hard Brexit from the EU.

Tensions worsened at this week’s European Council meeting when its President Donald Tusk allowed Mrs May just minutes to discuss Brexit at 1am — some five hours after EU leaders had sat down for dinner – and she was met with a frosty reception.

Political commentators are now talking of the scrap which will define the run up to Article 50and it’s implementation as DIRTY BREXIT.

He added: “The basic principles and rules, namely the single market and the indivisibility of the four freedoms, will remain our firm stance.”

Behind the scenes, EU officials have been briefed to maintain the hardline stance towards Britain and senior bureaucrats have been told to prepare for the possibility of no agreement being struck at all after two years of talks.

Michel Barnier, the former French foreign minister who has been appointed to head Brexit negotiations for the EU, has made clear that initial talks will only deal with four points set out by the bloc and will not cover the future of the EU’s relationship with the UK.

Mr Barnier had said the discussions would cover the amount Britain will owe the EU to cover its share of continuing payments and EU staff pensions; what will happen to EU nationals living in Britain and British nationals in the EU; where EU agencies based in Britain will go; and special arrangements for Northern Ireland and Gibraltar.

Crucially, negotiations will not even touch upon Britain’s access to the EU’s single market and the rights of banks or any temporary arrangements before any trade tariffs are introduced.

The bullish Mr Barnier had reportedly planned to carry out all negotiations in French which but the idea was slapped down by Theresa May in her speech in Brussels yesterday when she said: “We are going to conduct these negotiations in the way that means we are going to get the best deal for Britain.”

The stand off comes as the EU stumbled over a lucrative trade deal with Canada. The bloc failed in its bid to secure the deal worth billions after a regional Belgian parliament overruled the entire 28-country bloc.
