Marine Le Pen vows to let THE PEOPLE decide if they want to stay with failing Euro

MARINE Le Pen has promised voters she will let them decide whether to keep or ditch the failing Euro if she ascends to the presidency.

The eurosceptic Front National leader has long vowed to remove France from the crumbling European currency. But in the spirit of democracy, she told voters she will not enforce her will on France without the people’s support.

She said: “I never regret telling the truth to the French people, telling them that at the end of this negotiation, they will be the ones who decide by referendum.

The eurosceptic Front National leader has long vowed to remove France from the Euro

Yesterday Rupert Harrison, an aide to George Osborne during his time as Chancellor, insisted the possibility of election victory for Ms Le Pen would be an “existential threat” to the Euro.Speaking to Channel 4 News, he said: “I think we are talking about an existential threat to the Euro.

“Marine Le Pen is not just a populist or an anti-immigration far right candidate.

“The policy that really has the markets worried is that she wants to pull France out of the Euro and recreate the French Franc effectively.”

Mr Harrison claimed the downfall of the Eurozone could impact the British markets dramatically. He added: “We have to remember that even though we are leaving the European Union we are still very bound up with the European economy.

“I was in the Treasury back in 2011 and 2012 when we have the Eurozone crisis raging on our doorstep.

“That had a huge impact on the UK economy.”
