‘Just get on and LEAVE the EU!’ Peter Bone calls on PM to deliver Brexit ‘NOW’

PROMINENT BREXITEER Peter Bone has urged Theresa May to join him to deliver Britain’s European Union divorce, making it the Conservative Government’s number one priority.

The MP for Wellingborough prompted the Prime Minister to tell the Commons during her first Prime Minister’s Questions since the snap election she will prioritise Brexit above everything thing else.Mr Bone, addressing his fellow MPs, quoted the British Social Attitudes report, which claims Britain is at its most eurosceptic since the historic referendum last June.

The survey finds more than three-quarters (76 per cent) backing either leaving the EU or reducing its powers, up from around two-thirds (65 per cent).

In light of the findings, Mr Bone said: “Mrs May will know more than 80 per cent of the British people voted for parties who wanted to leave the EU.

“She will also know from her extensive canvassing, and mine – I know personally – that thousands and thousands of people tell me the referendum decided the issue – just get on and leave the EU!“Would she assure the House, she will make this her priority?”

Mrs May responded, overwhelmingly declaring  is at the top of her to-do list during her next parliamentary term.

The Prime Minister replied: “My Honourable Friend is absolutely right, what I have seen across the country is a real unity of purpose.“For most people, regardless of how they voted in the referendum, their view is the decision has been taken  – just deliver it, and that is exactly what this Government is going to do.”

As the Prime Minister sets her sights on life outside the EU she has tightened her grip on power by promoting pro-Brexit MPs to a number of key positions in Westminster.

Downing Street officials have given eight Leave campaigners posts as unpaid parliamentary aides to top ministers, shoring up support for her premiership.

Conor Burns, a vocal eurosceptic, will be Boris Johnson’s Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Foreign Office. And Spelthorne MP Kwasi Kwarteng, who also voted Leave in last year’s referendum, has been named PPS to Chancellor Philip Hammond.
