THERESA May has been urged to “face down” Boris Johnson and offer an acceptable ‘divorce bill’ if she wants EU trade negotiations to begin.
The Prime Minister was warned by the MEP that she had to disregard Mr Johnson by making changes before the next summit in December.
The European Parliament’s chief negotiator told The Mail on Sunday that Mrs May should call the bluff of the “increasingly desperate Brexiteers” and “outline once and for all, what kind of future relationship the country wants with the European Union.”
He added: “This may require Theresa May to face down Boris Johnson and others in her own party who refuse to accept the reality of the brevet they campaigned for.

Liberal Democrat leader, Vince Cable, also produced new researched which claims a no deal would cost the UK as much as £430 billion.
The Prime Minister has so far suggested a pledge of around £18 billion to the divorce bill.
However, President Macron suggested at this week’s European Council summit the bill could be over £36 billion (€40 billion).
This comes after concerns across Europe have grown that the Foreign Secretary could unseat Mrs May.
A move which could play to Mr Johnosn’s advantage with pro-Brexit Tory MPs impressed by his ability to strike fear into foreign ministries.

Verhofstadt should escort the EU’s very own Boris (Yeltsin) out of the building and forget to come back.
For those of us not old enough to remember, Boris Yeltsin was the Russian President soon after the break up of the Soviet Union who became a distinct embarrassment to the Russian Parliament for often being drunk, was overly fond of embracing and kissing foreign visitors and for various verbal gaffes. Does this remind you of anyone?
Clearly they’re getting nervous!
I can’t believe it. Who does Verhofstadt think he is?
Vile little man who thinks he can order a removal of a foreign MP, just who does he think he is? Like Junker it’s all about the money. If May agrees to pay one penny her political career is over at the next election.
How can this pathetic little man order anything in the UK? A nobody desperate to be a somebody and failing.
