Jacob Rees-Mogg’s ROUSING pledge Britain’s economy will THRIVE if we have a CLEAN Brexit

BREXITEER Jacob Rees-Mogg insisted Brexit will bring “real opportunities” for Britons and will be “hugely economically advantageous”, particularly for the poorer members of society.

Influential Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg said that  is an “exciting” time for Britain and a “clean Brexit” would bring a boom to Britain’s economy.Mr Rees-Mogg said a “clean Brexit” would be an exit from the customs union and single market. He claimed the push for a “clean Brexit” was in both the Conservative and Labour manifestos in the June snap election.Appearing on Channel 4 News, Mr Rees-Mogg said: “A clean Brexit gives us the opportunity to cut tariffs on trade coming into this country.

“It gives us our money back sooner and that under the figures produced by Patrick Minford and his team at Cardiff University provides £135bn boom to the exchequer in the years 2020 to 2025 and £40bn a year after that.”

A clean exit from the European Union is hugely economically advantageous

Economist and university professor Patrick Minford said the removal of EU trade barriers would increase Britain’s GDP by almost seven per cent.Mr Rees-Mogg insisted Britain’s economy will thrive after Brexit. He said: “A clean exit from the European Union is hugely economically advantageous and cutting tariffs will benefit the poor in society most because the highest tariffs fall on food, clothing and footwear, which make up a disproportionate amount of the budgets of the poorest in society.“So there are real opportunities. It’s exciting to get Brexit.”

The Government won its first votes on the EU Withdrawal Bill on Tuesday despite Labour’s plot to keep Britain in the .

MPs voted by 318 to 68, a majority of 250, for repealing the Act, which gives EU law supremacy over UK law. amended the EU withdrawal bill so that Britain will commit to Brexit at 11pm on 29th March 2019.But Labour said it would oppose the Government’s plans to enshrine a Brexit date into law.

In a column for the Labour List blog, Labour’s Brexit spokesman Richard Corbett suggested that Britain should remain a full member of the EU through the two-year transition period.
